Left yesterday with the family to drive to Florida. We did this last year and found out that it wasn't too bad. Michael loaded up the kids iPods with lotsa movies (the DVD player in the minivan broke last summer...this is so much better). No fighting over what movie is playing, and it is quiet in the car. Of course, since the only thing they are looking at is a screen, they have no idea what going on outside...for those of us who had to suffer without electronics growing up, Pedro (of the South of the Boarder fame) was a big hit...they have no idea who he is.
Stayed last night at the same place we stayed at when we drove last year...Spring Hill Suites by Marriott in Florence, SC. Exactly half way from our house to the port. My parents are also going on this trip, so they met us there. Today we are driving the rest of the way to Cocoa Beach, FL, and spending tonite and tomorrow night there at the Four Points by Sheraton Cocoa Beach. We enjoyed the beach there last year (but stayed closer to the port).
